Our Most Popular Indoor Spa Projects

Project Requirement

The client, an avid swimmer, required an indoor spa to rejuvenate during the Covid-19 restrictions.

 Challenges

  • The steam shower had a complex plumbing pre-requisite.
  • The space in the bathroom was quite less.
  • Additionally, a sauna cabin was also required to be added to the indoor spa.
  • The bathroom also needed proper ventilation to ensure that any leftover steam was removed from the bathroom immediately.
  • The salt content of the local water supply was high and this would over time pose a problem to the miniscule perforations in the shower system.

How did Essex Construction and Builders overcome the challenge?

  • The entire plumbing required for the steam shower was studied and meticulously implemented over the course of a few days. Proper plumbing material was used to ensure adequate water pressure in the steam shower supply ducts.
  • An automatic water softener was installed to regulate the salt content of the water supply and ensure that the steam shower received soft water, free from potentially blocking limescale particles.
  • An automatic skylight was installed to regulate the humidity in the spa.

Frequently Asked Questions

An indoor spa usually consists of a sauna and a steam shower with a built-in jacuzzi.

The minimum space needed to build an indoor spa is 3.2 x 2 meters. This would also include a toilet (WC) and a wash basin with vanity.

Depending on your selected area, it can take up to a maximum of 2 days.

For the least amount of maintenance, we highly recommend using a water softener. This will prevent scaling from clogging the pores of your steam shower/jacuzzi. Once this is done, an indoor spa incurs minimal maintenance.

The minimum cost of installing a basic indoor spa (including a steam shower with a jacuzzi, sauna, and installation costs) is around £4000. The cost will go up depending on your choice of equipment.
